Summary
[motion picture] Explains that glaciers form when more snow falls than melts, describes forces which cause glacial movement, and depicts the resulting effects upon the earth's surface. Discusses two types of glaciers: mountain glaciers which form cirques and horns by widening and deepening mountain valleys; and continental glaciers, which remove soil, scar exposed rocks, and fill and smooth uneven land. Points out that glaciation provides fertile farm soils; deposits of sand, gravel, clay, and underground waters; and pure, glacial lakes.
