Better use of leisure time
Pictures Ken as he lounges on his bed after school, unable to find any of his friends, and having nothing to do. The narrator contrasts for him the amount of leisure time the average man had 100 and 50 years ago with what he has today. Shows Ken's friends busy at their activities such as bird identification, sewing, and model-airplane flying. Suggests that leisure time activity should provide a change, should offer opportunity for learning, and should progress toward a long-range goal. Ken then chooses photography as his leisure-time activity.
