When Mrs. Moose decides that Thumbelina should marry Mr. Mole, the bird carries the little girl back to her mother. Mr. Mole then decides to marry Mrs. Mouse. Marionettes are used to tell this all-time favorite.

Questions a woman's right to terminate pregnancy in the first three months through legalized abortion. Points out that increased accessibility to abortion would decrease the number of unwanted children, many of whom presently become socially maladjusted or mentally ill. Opposes legalized abortion in that the embryo is a human being, even though it cannot independently sustain life, and that often women only "think" they want an abortion. Emphasizes that most abortions are sought by married women.
Animation is used to present the story of the Bagley family, who do not use their furnace correctly. When Mr. Bagley over-fires the furnace, the narrator, who is a gnome, and cutaway diagrams of the furnace explain the importance of keeping a furnace in good condition and firing it correctly. Unfortunately, Mr. Bagley and his house are blown up by an explosion of coal gas in the furnace.

Examines the confused reaction in a community when a black family stops in front of a house with a "for sale" sign. Explores the contagion of unreason and the feelings of guilt which militate against a solution of the integration problem, appealing for intelligence and democratic principles as the only road to community equilibrium.
Scientists routinely make causal inferences – whether implicit or explicit – about correlations generated from statistical analyses of experimental and observational data. However, while theorized causes are usually directionally specific, correlations are inherently symmetric or directionally ambiguous. Moreover, multiple causal structures can produce equivalent correlational results, posing significant threats to the validity of statistical inferences.
Fortunately, advances from the “causal revolution” in science and statistics have provided us with powerful tools, such as potential outcomes and directed acyclic graphs (DAGs), to better understand causes and effects. This talk will focus on how DAGs can help us “assume in public” more effectively. By introducing DAGs early in the research workflow and adhering to simple rules for their use, we can formalize the causal assumptions underlying our theories and statistical models, thereby enhancing transparency and reducing avoidable biases in causal estimation.
The presentation will cover the four foundational structures in causal systems, as represented in DAGs: complete independence, pipes, forks, and colliders. Real-world and simulated examples – drawn from the speaker’s blog posts – will illustrate key concepts, such as d-separation, “good and bad controls,” and adjustment sets. Finally, the talk will introduce tools and resources to help researchers more confidently and effectively navigate the assumptions and challenges of causal inference.

Summary:
A conversation between Beverly Jenkins and Lilly Library Curator of Modern Books Rebecca Baumann in celebration of the Lilly Library’s exhibition Love in the Library: The Romance Novel in English. Beverly Jenkins is an NAACP Image Award nominee and bestselling author of over 30 historical and contemporary romance novels. Her historical novels, including Indigo (1996), Topaz (1997), and the Women Who Dare series (2019–2022) center Black characters and Black history often overlooked in the romance genre, in American popular culture, and in history classes. Many of her novels are set in the post-Civil War era, a time in which Black Americans were building their lives, their identities, and legacies for generations to come. Jenkins also writes contemporary romances, including the 2021 romantic suspense novella Rare Danger, featuring a rare book dealer as heroine.
An experimental film created by Norman McLaren and Evelyn Lambart in which a sheaf of lines, constantly gyrating, group and regroup harmoniously in accord with music composed and played on wind and string instruments by folk musician Peter Seeger.

This film opens in a classroom, showing a music teacher working through a piece with a group of string musicians. He goes on to talk about an influential teacher he had at Virginia State College named Undine Moore. Quipped the "Dean of Black Women Composers," Undine Eliza Anna Smith Moore was a notable and prolific American composer and professor of music in the twentieth century. Much of her work was inspired by black spirituals and folk music. She was a renowned teacher, and once stated that she experienced “teaching itself as an art.” Towards the end of her life, she received many notable awards for her accomplishments as a music educator.
In this film the cinematographic space becomes itself an active element of the dance rather than being an area in which the dance takes place. The dancer shares with the camera and the cutting a collaborative responsibility for the movements themselves. Recommended for use only by groups interested in the cinematographical element of the dance.

Contains aerial photography, animation, and charts to show methods used by Indianapolis to effect slum clearance. Helga Winold research footage studying the movement of cello players - both in real time and slowed down.
Helga Winold is a concert cellist and former Professor of Music in the Jacobs School of Music. She was also the first IU student to receive her Doctorate of Music in the Cello (1967) and was appointed to the faculty of the Jacobs School of Music in 1969. She performed research into "the analysis of movement in string playing and the translation of thought into movement". With IU psychology professor Esther Thelen, Winold used computers to track and analyze students' movements as they played the cello resulting in better teaching methods and articles in scientific journals. She was awarded the President's Award for Distinguished Teaching in 2008.

Emphasizes that such a development was slow and difficult from the schoolhouse with broken windows and the teachers only a few steps ahead of the pupils to the modern school which spreads its influence beyond the confines of its four walls through training 9in home economics, machine shop, and handicrafts.
