Episode 2 from Bread and Butterflies, a project in career development for nine-to-twelve-year-olds. Based on two years of planning by educators and broadcasters, the project included 15-minute color television programs, a comprehensive Curriculum Guide, and in-service teacher's program, and international program, and workshop materials. Bread and Butterflies was created under the supervision of the Agency for Instructional Television, through the resources of a consortium of thirty-four educational and broadcasting agencies with assistance from Exxon Corporation.

When properly handled in the laboratory, radioactive materials constitute little danger. This program shows the precautions used in working with radiation as well as the research carried on at Argonne to gain more knowledge about handling radiation. “Hot Caves” (a cave is a radiation chamber) using mechanical slave manipulators, caves using the only electronic manipulators in the country, and giant caves using heavy duty manipulators illustrate the safety methods mentioned. Another demonstration outlines the method used to dispose of radioactive waste material. Dr. Brandon-Friedman, his doctoral students, and gender-diverse community members discuss recent research projects designed to better understand and address the needs of gender-diverse youth. These include tracking the impact of gender-affirming care on gender-diverse youths’ well-being over a two-year period, exploring the impact of educational institution betrayal on gender-diverse youths’ education and social well-being, developing a therapeutic group for gender-diverse youth and their caregivers, and assisting with the development of a life skills curriculum for gender-diverse People of Color age 18-24. These projects all have been funded through various community-based mechanisms and all have included the gender-diverse community in their design, implementation, and evaluation. Worst of Farm Disasters was produced alongside the USDA's Rural Electrification Administration (REA) films Power and the Land and Bip Goes To Town. All three films document the life of an Ohio farm family, the Parkinson's, as they promote REA loans for modernization of small farms with electric service. Portrays the ever-present danger of fires on the farm resulting from reliance on kitchen cook stoves, kerosene lanterns and other traditional ways of farm life that would be improved through electrification. Narration conveys the message that "farms with electricity are more protected against fire loss than ever before, they are safer places to live for men and women."
